Milk cartons, toilet rolls, egg cartons, cardboard boxes, plastic wrappers... Every day in the household, we piled up a bunch of recycled materials from the necessities that we use.
There are variety of crafts that you can create with your child with recycled materials - film rolls, car, binoculars, rain sticks.... The possibilities are endless! With recycled materials, children are given the opportunity and freedom to create anything that they want to, and it is up to their imagination and creativity. During the process of creation, children's problem solving skills are being tapped on as they think on ways to create their product. Having a play material that they have made from scratch, it gives children a sense of agency upon completion their creation.
Furthermore, using recycled materials promote children's environmental awareness as they are reusing the materials and turning it into something new and original, based on their ideas.
So, do not discard your recyclable materials away! These materials are great to engage children for a prolong period and let their creativity flow. Be amazed at their ideas and build with them!
Happy recycling!
