In view of the current situation of Covid-19, the government announced the closure of schools as one of the measures to curb the spread of the virus. Since then, many people have been looking for resources to encourage home-based learning for the children.
The idea of home-based learning during school closure is to provide continuity for the children’s learning experiences. It’s an opportunity for the children to adapt to a new learning environment and understand that learning can happen anywhere and at anytime.
With parents working from home, we understand that routines and timetable can become difficult to establish. Try to work around it, create a schedule for yourself and a separate one for your child. Make pockets of time (30 to 45 minutes), once or twice a day, to spend time and work through an activity together. Don’t stress yourself - you don’t have to be a teacher, you are a play/work companion for your child! Experiences where adults are enjoying and learning together with the children are the most meaningful. When else would you get a time like this to work and play together with your child, right?
Do keep a lookout for information and resources you can tap on to spend a meaningful and productive time with your children at home during this period of time.
We hope that everyone is well, safe, and happy. ☺
